What happened to the old web page address www.microanalysis.org?
It was scooped up by a prospector hoping to make money when a clerical error caused our renewal of that address not to be processed. Our www.microbeamanalysis.org address more accurately reflects the society name.
I heard we had a new web page but it looks the same as before?
The MAS web pages are being served from a commercial web hosting service instead of a Mac at the University of Michigan. This change was only to provide MAS members with more reliable service. The web page content is mostly the same with updates being made as time allows.
MAS had a listserver for discussion of quantitative analysis and society business, is that going to come back?
No, it was discontinued due to lack of traffic.
Is MAS the same as MSA?
No, MAS is the Microbeam Analysis Society and MSA is the Microscopy Society of America. They are sister societies with some overlap in membership. Traditionally, MAS is more associated with the physical sciences and quantitation and MSA is more associated with the biological sciences and imaging. There are of course exceptions and crossovers. There are also several other societies with these acronyms.
