M&M 2009 Update

The latest information about changes to the M&M 2009 schedule

Opening Plenary Session

Monday, July 27, 2009  Exhibit Hall D

This year the program committee has reintroduced the Plenary Session.  There will be two keynote speakers, and the Session is composed of two parts.  The first part will be hosted by MSA and the keynote speaker will be Tom Pike – The Phoenix Mission: Microscopy on Mars.

Part II will be hosted by MAS and will begin immediately following the morning break at 10:30 am.  Our keynote speaker is Joe Michael – “Microbial Forensics: Microanalysis of the 2001 Anthrax Letter Attacks.”  Please join us to hear about the integral part our own MAS colleagues Joe Michael and Paul Kotula played in this critical case that impacted our country and permanently changed our views on national security.

Note:  The MAS Awards Presentation will take place following the keynote presentation.  This Session will replace our usual Presidential Happenings.  All awards recipients including Society Major Awards, Best Papers of 2008, and the Distinguished Scholar Awards will be presented following the presentation.
