Student scholarships
are offered as a way to promote significant student involvement in
the EBSD 2010 Topical Conference.
Scholarships of up to $500 will be available to cover the cost of
conference registration, travel, and lodging. Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of the aptitude of the applicant
and the benefit that the conference will have in the applicant's research
and career development. Submission by the applicant of an abstract to present
his or her work with EBSD at the meeting is desirable, but not required
as we wish to involve students at various stages of their studies.
Only complete scholarship applications, submitted by the application deadline of March 1, 2010, will be considered. A complete application is comprised of:
- completion of the on-line registration process for the meeting with payment (click on link below);
- completion of the on-line scholarship application form (link below), for which the student applicant provides (i) information about his or her degree program, progress, and thesis topic, (ii) contact information for a faculty advisor, and (iii) a succinct statement of how attending the conference will contribute to the applicant's research or career; and
- a reference from the student's faculty advisor, which should be sent directly from the advisor to lnbrewe@sandia.gov

Reminder! A Pre-Conference Tutorial , geared toward newcomers to EBSD, will be held on the day before the technical program begins: May 24, 2010. This tutorial should prepare those with no prior experience to grasp the concepts and advances discussed during the technical program.
