The MAS EBSD topical conference series has a new home this year! Carnegie Mellon University and its Department of Materials Science and Engineering will host EBSD 2012 in Pittsburgh, PA. The department has an excellent history of progressive EBSD usage, and it houses a state-of-the-art microscopy suite that will be utilized for on-site demonstrations. The main meeting will be conducted in Rangos Hall at the University Center, with room for up to 150 attendees. There will be ample space outside Rangos for informal discussions, networking, and breaks, and the poster session will be held in the Connan room one floor below.
Beyond the topical conference, Pittsburgh offers significant amenities. The Carnegie Musuems are within walking distance from the meeting, as are excellent restaraunts and other eating establishments. Within a 15 minute taxi ride resides the Cultural District, Southside Works, and PNC Park - home of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
